Culture Shock
This week in class we learned about the different cultures from some different countries, and how we all have a culture shock when going into a new country: and realizing that things may be different than what you are used too. When we read about the woman from Holland, that really made me realize that different countries sometimes have completely different norms than what I am used to. I never realized that there are so many different norms around the world. Even the smallest things for example, when we watched the video of how people I'm India cross the street. It looked very disorganized but to them that is normal. Seeing all if the different norms kind of opened my eyes of how there are different ways to do things than the way the United States does. What I consider normal could be weird to someone somewhere else. I think that people do not treacly realize how different other countries are. I admit that seeing these different norms, I couldn't really see how they are right. Reading the article on the last from holland, I don't think that I could have cultural relativity. Even thigh that is Nola in her country, I still feel that that is just not tight. However, learning these different norms has opened my eyes.

A Bronx Tale
The movie that we watched in class this week, touched on a lot of different topics brought up in class so far. The main character Calodraul, was stuck between following his fathers morals, or being with Sonny and his crew. There are a couple different in and out groups throughout the movie. However, I think that Sonny and Calodraul should be placed in there own group. The reason for this is, that even though Sonny is the most powerful person in the neighborhood and is "supposed to be this tough guy," he has a lot more morals than most think. He isn't like the usual mobster. He leads Calodraul in the right direction in what he does. He makes Calodraul realize what the right and wrong decision is, and makes him see different sides to things. With Calodraul, he isn't like the rest of his friends. During that time period racism was a big part of society. Unlike most people in his neighborhood, Calodraul didn't have that racist view. His friends were very anti black, and Calodraul just didn't see the same way. For example when the African American were riding their bikes through the "white Italian" neighborhood, his friends decided they wanted to beat the kids up. During that scene, you could see that Calodraul didn't warn to join them, but when he is called over he pretends to best the guy up. Also, unlike his father Calodraul sees the good in Sonny that not many see or know. He tries to find a balance between being with his father, and being able to hang with Sonny. Both of them or not like the others in their neighborhood. There are the groups of different nationalities, ethnicities, racists, and Calodraul and Sonny. This movie toured on other topics; however. I think that the in and out groups were the biggest. I think this because to me, the movie showed the different groups very clearly.

Who Am I?
The question who am I, is a very difficult question to answer for me. I have a hard time describing just who I am. Sometimes I feel like my friends can describe me better than I can describe myself. I can say however, that dance is a big part of my life. I have been dancing for about 12 years, and it is something that I love to do. I am in every class my studio has to offer, so it is a lot of work, but I love it. The hard work during the year pays off for the dance recital in June. Being on stage and performing the dances is a rush of excitement. There is no comparisson to the feeling I get performing at the dance recital. Getting to who I really am, is harder to get to than describing something I love. Some people know me as the quiet girl in class. And yes, I am quiet in class, but what most people do not know is that I am actually very loud. I come off as very quiet, because I am more of a shy person at first, until you get to know me. If I am with my friends and meeting new people, it is a lot easier for me too be my normal self, and be loud and crazy. I have also always been a very nice person. Growing up in a very close family, has made me very family oriented. I love spending time with my family. I am extremely close with my younger sister. We love to spend days together and hang out. At home we always are obnoxious or talking about what is going on in our lives. She is one of my best friends.
